Opticore IT are currently searching for a Senior Network Engineer who is operating at a CCNP level with strong general routing and switching knowledge to come and join the team. You'll join our excelling team, based in the London area.

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

This opportunity focuses on the IP/MPLS infrastructure that underpins the mobile packet core network, including interconnects with partner networks, enterprise APN connectivity, and internet breakout infrastructure.

The environment consists of a Cisco and Nokia-based packet core network, operating at large scale and supporting high-throughput subscriber traffic.

What you'll be doing:

• Operate and maintain large-scale IP/MPLS networks, ensuring stability, performance, and rapid resolution of routing-related incidents.

• Configure and manage BGP and IS-IS routing, including policy design, traffic engineering, and VRF-based segmentation.

• Manage external interconnects and peering relationships, ensuring reliable connectivity with roaming partners, internet providers, and enterprise networks.

• Support integration of mobile packet core infrastructure, ensuring efficient traffic flow between gateways, internet breakouts, and enterprise connectivity.

• Monitor and optimise subscriber traffic, including CGNAT environments, to maintain performance, scalability, and compliance with logging requirements.
  

What you'll bring:

• Strong experience operating large-scale service provider IP/MPLS networks with advanced BGP (eBGP/iBGP) and IS-IS, including VRF segmentation, traffic engineering, and routing policy design.

• Proven experience designing and operating NNI interconnects, managing external peering relationships, and applying routing policy, filtering, and traffic engineering across interconnect environments.

• Solid understanding of mobile packet core integration within IP/MPLS networks, including high-throughput gateway routing, breakout design, and end-to-end traffic flow.

• Knowledge of mobile data networking concepts including APNs, Gi interface connectivity, and how subscriber traffic exits the packet core to external networks.

• Hands-on experience with CGNAT, including scaling considerations, subscriber traffic management, and regulatory logging requirements.
