Opticore IT are currently searching for a Network Engineer to ensure the reliable, secure, and continuous operations of a new Data Centre network and support infrastrcutrue. You'll join our excelling team in a leading Financial Services client, based in the London area up to 3x days a week.
Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.
The Network Engineer will provide higher-level monitoring, triage, troubleshooting, and implementation of network and security changes, bridging the gap between standard NOC operations and senior engineering support.
What you'll be doing:
24/7 Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor the Data Center network and support systems to ensure continuous uptime and performance.
Incident Triage and Troubleshooting: Identify, diagnose, and resolve network and support infrastructure issues; escalate to relevant teams when necessary.
Network Configuration and Changes like (but not limited to):
Implement DNS changes
Create new scopes in Infoblox
Add or modify firewall rules
Security Support: Work with Palo Alto and Fortigate firewalls and related management tools to maintain security policies and controls.
Independent Work: Manage tasks and incidents autonomously, demonstrating accountability and problem-solving skills.
Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with internal and external customers as required.
Collaboration: Coordinate with the existing support engineer and other teams to maintain 24/7 coverage and consistent operational standards.
What you'll bring:
Strong understanding of core routing and switching concepts DC WAN VXLAN EVPN
Experience troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues.
Ability to analyse network behaviour and resolve incidents independently.
Experience monitoring network and infrastructure environments in a production or data centre setting.
Experience working with enterprise firewalls such as Palo Alto or Fortigate.
Experience managing DNS changes.
Knowledge of IP address management tools, ideally Infoblox.
