Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

We are currently seeking a Network Engineer, to join our Network Practice; within one of our Financial clients.  This opportunitity requires expertise in Data Centre projects, advanced routing and Switching, and Firewalls. This is a hybrid position but you will be required to attend the office up to 2 days a week, based in the London.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead the design, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of robust and scalable network solutions incorporating Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and related technologies. 
• Manage and administer Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls (NGFWs), including centralized management tools (e.g., FortiManager, Panorama).
• Implement and manage security policies, rules, and configurations on firewalls and network devices to protect corporate assets and ensure compliance with industry best practices
• Spearhead and execute Data Center Take Over projects, including due diligence, planning, design, and implementation of network infrastructure transitions. 
• Develop detailed migration plans, risk assessments, cutover strategies, and post-migration validation procedures for seamless data center integrations.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for complex network incidents and issues related to routing, switching, firewalls, and connectivity

What you'll bring:

• Proven experience leading and executing complex Data Center Take Over projects, including planning, migration, and integration. 
• Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, cabling, and physical security considerations during transitions.
• Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing Cisco (e.g., Catalyst, Nexus, ASR/ISR) and Juniper (e.g., MX, EX, SRX) routing and switching platforms
• Proficiency with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), MPLS, VXLAN, EVPN, and Spanning Tree protocols
• Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and managing Fortinet FortiGate firewalls (FortiOS, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer) and Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PAN-OS, Panorama)
• Strong understanding of core networking principles, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, SNMP, NTP, etc.)
